Abstract Alexandra aka Alexandra White
Contemporary artist and photographer, Alexandra White aka Abstract
Alexandra, creates art with the vision of a figurative expressionist.
Connecticut born, she attended both the Atlanta Institute of
Art and Design and Boston University. While pursuing her art
degree she began entering juried shows and exhibiting in the
south east. By the late 90’s she moved to Columbia, South
Carolina and studied under renowned painter Campbell Frost.
She collaborated with Beth Ernst on several abstract multi-media
exhibitions and held joint shows with popular Columbian artist
Blue Sky. She was voted Free Times Best Artist, honorable mention,
of 2000.
In 2001 she collaborated with female artists in and around Columbia,
South Carolina to create the She Festival, a women in arts festival.
A festival created to raise awareness about domestic violence
and provide a venue for women in art to perform and exhibit
their unique artistic talents.
Many
early works encompassed color field painting and chiaroscuro.
In later years, she began more abstract expressionist styles.
Always driven artistically her armature and assemblage pieces
are created as an expression of her experience enabling the
audience to participate through touch .
Current assemblage are exhibited permanently in Cafe's and Galleries
throughout North and South Carolina, New York, Washington D.C,
France, Great Britain and Germany
